When veteran 911 operator Jordan Turner receives a call from a girl who
has just been abducted, she soon realizes that she must confront a
killer from her past in order to save the girl's life.
This film opens with the expectation and promise that this will be a tense chiller, a thrill ride. Sadly all of this good will built up in the first half of the movie goes the way of Hollywood stupidity as it runs off the rails in the final act when the only person smart enough to outwit the kidnapper, whom we are supposed to believe has the sleuthing skills of Sherlock Holmes suddenly turns 'dead teenager movie' stupid.
The culprits are the writers and director when they throw anything at the screen that will stick, a touch of Taken, a stitch of Silence of The Lambs, little bits of Saw, a splattering of I Spit On Your Grave, basically anything they can think of. The only remotely unique element they have come up with is a particularly heinous scalp sniffing scene.
Once they get Halle Berry into the villain's lair she becomes as clueless as Forest Gump, but then she and Abigail Breslin flip into the 'I am woman hear me roar' mode as they play female Charles Bronsons (fron any of 5 Death Wish films) exacting their own feminist brand or vigilante justice.
