Continuing where the first film left off, Nell Sweetzer (Ashley Bell) is found terrified and alone in rural Louisiana. Back in the relative safety of New Orleans, Nell realizes that she can't remember entire portions of the previous months only that she is the last surviving member of her family. Just as Nell begins the difficult process of starting a new life, the evil force that once possessed her is back with other, unimaginably horrific plans that mean her last exorcism was just the beginning.

I didn't see this movie's predecessor so I had no idea what this film was a followup too. I came to the conclusion that it doesn't matter...because this film doesn't matter. For starters the name is simply stupid...The Last Exorcism Part II...if the former story was the last exorcism then just how do we get a part II? Well, you follow the money. The Last Exorcism was made for $1 million and opened at $20.4 million. In fact two-and-a-half years ago The Last Exorcism earned a surprisingly solid $41 million. Somebody, a lot of somebodies, wanted to cash in on a sequel. Where else do you get a 40 to 1 return on your investment?
The opening scene was pretty creepy. It gave the impression that this might be an interesting film but that was about it. The film quickly devolves into a standard 'grab for cash' sequel with a few 'got ya' scare shocks, you know with a quick move or a loud sound or a shadowy figure in the background. The conclusion to the film is almost comical but I don't think that was their intent. The final result is that The Last Exorcism Part II is a very forgettable film.  This genera has been so over done because they are cheap and easy to make and there is a built in audience who really want to and adrenialen rush  scare and will see almost any film in order to achieve that end, but to be certain there are better efforts out there. This film will not see the financial sucess that its predecessor did.
